I think the old save is not compatible.
Some scenes have no sound and forced to exit the game.
But playing from scratch, It works fine.

The forced exit only happens when you are not running the game with compatibility mode. Try windows 7 or older.
Be sure to run the game at least once with "Run As Administrator" even if you are the only user of that PC

I put it in the right folder
I can play the game no problem. There is just no way to save it.

There are no included folders when you download the game (from the official Patreon) so I can't help you if someone modified something.
However , that is indeed A folder where it should be BUT it varies from PC/OS to PC/OS
